Cardiovascular
Clinical Academic Group
The Cardiovascular CAG serves as the research translation node of the broader Cardiovascular Initiative (CVI) network, a strategic partnership between Sydney Health Partners, the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The CVI was established in 2017 to facilitate and catalyse collaborations, partnering pre-clinical and clinical research hubs and facilities with the clinical cohorts and local health districts.
The CVI, with over 900 members, has six multidisciplinary pipelines each co-led by a fundamental researcher and clinician, to help achieve its vision:
• Precision Medicine
• Drug Discovery
• Bioengineering
• Big Data
• Clinical Trials
• Implementation and Policy
Objectives
The Cardiovascular CAG includes activities in capacity and capability building in research translation and a focus on EMCRs and clinician researchers across the Big Data, Clinical Trials and Implementation and Policy pipelines.
Through a focus on health system integration and multidisciplinary research translation, the CV CAG aims to capitalise on the outstanding science and facilities offered by the unique partnership of Sydney Health Partners to ensure excellence is achieved across the translational pathway and improve health outcomes for current and future generations.
Finally, the CAG aims to deliver deeper collaboration, greater efficiency and increased research funding.
