We are transforming how research improves patient outcomes to meet the needs of our community
Platform 2 is leading consumer involvement in our Cellulitis Prevention: Healthy Legs Program (HeLP), which is developing a model of care to prevent admissions and readmissions among patients with cellulitis. By working with consumers and consumer groups, we are ensuring that their perspectives are heard and incorporated into the wider project.
Sydney Health Partners has established a strategic partnership with Health Consumers NSW (HCNSW). We are working on two projects to increase the capacity of researchers and consumers to work together.
HCNSW has commenced a scoping review and needs assessment of consumer and community involvement across Sydney Health Partners, which will then inform a series of training seminars for consumers, researchers and clinicians.
Working with our LHD partners and consumer advisory groups, Sydney Health Partners coordinated the development of an information brochure which promotes consumer involvement in research. Importantly, the brochure was developed by consumers as well as for consumers.
The brochure encourages members of the public to think more broadly about the ways they can be involved in health and medical research - and includes quotes from consumers who have done so.
The partnership’s five founding members will each take leadership of a strategic platform of health and medical research translation, with the aim of speeding the application of evidence into clinical practice.
