Implementation science is the study of how to promote the systematic uptake of research findings and evidence-based practices into routine care. It focuses on closing the evidence-to-practice gap so patients, health professionals, and health systems benefit from proven interventions sooner.
It’s a free, five-step online Knowledge Pathway developed by Sydney Health Partners’ Implementation Science Academy. In around 30–40 minutes, you’ll gain a clear, practical understanding of how to move research into real-world healthcare practice.
You’ll learn the key terms and concepts, including interventions, strategies, determinants, and outcomes. You’ll explore frameworks like Knowledge-to-Action, CFIR, and RE-AIM and see how to plan studies, measure implementation success, and consider context and equity in real-world healthcare.
This Pathway is designed for clinicians, researchers, health service leaders, policymakers and students. It’s for anyone interested in understanding how to improve uptake of evidence-based care. No prior knowledge is required.
It’s completely free to access. You just need to become a Sydney Health Partners site member to unlock progress tracking.
No. You can work through the five steps at your own pace and pick up where you left off when you log back in. Once you’re logged in, track your progress by visiting ‘My account’ at the top right of the website menu bar.
