Collaborating for Better Clinical Outcomes

Sydney Health Partners’ Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs) provide a clinically focused structure and collaborative network of clinicians (including nursing and allied health professionals), academics, health services professionals, and consumers. The CAGs aim to translate research evidence into clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

Each CAG is distinct, centred around a specific clinical challenge, health service priority or population group. Despite their unique focus areas, all CAGs share a common set of objectives:

Aligning research with health service priorities and understanding the barriers to translating research into the clinical setting

Building capacity and capability in research translation and implementation

Supporting the development of early-career and clinician researchers

Involving health consumers in the design of research

Sydney Health Partners funds and supports several CAGs and provides ongoing coordination. This includes facilitating collaboration across groups by bringing them together in webinars and an annual workshop, as well as creating development opportunities that help CAG members build translational research capability.

Since 2022, 12 CAGs have been established. Each group has evolved reflecting the size and maturity of current research collaborations. In 2026, the CAG program will be expanded, with new CAGs to be introduced.
