Updated Governance Checklists Now Available
Sydney Health Partners has released updated checklists to support consistent, efficient and high-quality research governance submission and review processes across NSW health services and hospitals.
Published date:
The Governance Submission Checklist for Researchers and Governance Checklist for Research Governance Officers have been updated to reflect policy, guidance and contemporary practice within NSW Health organisations.
Originally published in June 2023, the checklists assist researchers in preparing submissions for governance authorisation, and help Research Governance Officers (RGOs) to assess those submissions. They are particularly helpful for multi-site studies where consistency and clarity are essential.
A Sydney Health Partners led Working Group, which includes RGOs from SHP’s health partner organisations and additional Local Health Districts in NSW, guided the development of the original checklists and oversaw the recent updates to ensure the tools remain practical, current and aligned with user needs.
The checklists help ensure:
- RGOs have all required information to conduct their reviews
- Researchers understand expectations before they submit
- Multi-site studies benefit from a more consistent approach across different health organisations.
For decentralised studies or teletrials, researchers and RGOs are encouraged to use the above checklists alongside a new resource (Decentralised Trials Research Governance Review Checklist) addressing additional requirements and considerations.
