Invitation to Participate in Research Study – Enablers and Barriers for Sharing Clinical Trial Data
The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney, in collaboration with Sydney Health Partners is inviting clinical researchers to participate in a study examining the barriers and enablers to sharing clinical trial data.
About the Study
Clinical trial data is a vital resource for advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes. Yet, challenges remain in determining when and how this data can be shared for secondary use. This study seeks to better understand those challenges and identify practical solutions.
The information gathered will be used to develop resources that support and improve data sharing practices across the research community.
Who Can Participate
Clinical researchers who have been responsible for deciding whether clinical trial data can be shared for secondary use. This includes:
- Researchers with experience in sharing trial data
- Researchers who have not yet shared their data but have considered the process
Participation Details
- Survey: The survey will take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. It is anonymous, and once submitted, responses cannot be withdrawn. Survey data will be stored securely at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre for at least five years, in line with local regulations.
- Optional Interview: Participants may also choose to take part in a 30-minute online interview (via Teams or Zoom). During the interview, you will be asked to share your opinions on current barriers to secondary data sharing and suggest tools or resources that may help improve practices. Interview recordings will be deleted after transcription is confirmed as accurate, and kept only for a maximum of one month.
Timeline
The survey will remain open until end of February 2026.
Funding and Program
This project is a co-investment partnership with the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) through the Health Studies Australian National Data Asset (HeSANDA) program, which promotes the secondary use of clinical trial data.
