About the Group

The Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group (CV CAG) aims to deliver improved cardiovascular health outcomes through high impact multidisciplinary and collaborative research involving the expertise of clinicians, researchers and consumers.

The CV CAG emphasises activities in capacity and capability building in research translation with a focus on Early-Mid Career Researchers (EMCRs) and clinician researchers.

The CV CAG is the research translation focus of the broader Cardiovascular Initiative (CVI) network, a strategic partnership between Sydney Health Partners, the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

The CVI has six multidisciplinary pipelines each co-led by a fundamental researcher and clinician, to help achieve its vision:

  • Implementation and Policy

Objectives

The CV CAG is entering its second round of funding, 2024-2026. Building on activities from Round 1, the new strategy focusses on:

  • Research in the development and evaluation of new cardiovascular services and innovative approaches in cardiovascular clinical care with priority research questions addressing effectiveness and implementation
  • Cardiovascular projects with expertise to enable economic evaluation of new cardiovascular models of care and innovative clinical approaches
  • Innovative cardiovascular services and clinical innovation research projects to conduct research that informs future scale up, through leveraging SHP partners, including consumers networks

  • Development of an economic evaluation framework for cardiac services
