Good Clinical Practice - Introductory & Refresher Courses
Staff from organisations which are members of Sydney Health Partners can now undertake free online Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Transcelerate accredited training.

Both face-to-face introductory training and refresher courses are held regularly throughout the year across our partner organisations.
GCP is the internationally accepted standard for designing, conducting, recording, and reporting clinical trials to ensure clinical trial conduct is safe and ethical.
All staff working in clinical trials must have accredited training in GCP.
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is implementing the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework (NCTGF) which aims to embed clinical trials into routine health care and strengthen the clinical and corporate governance arrangements for those involved in delivering clinical trials.
“LHDs will soon be obliged to ensure that all clinical trials conducted meet national standards for safe and ethical research,” said SHP Research Director, Associate Professor Angela Todd. “We are working with our partners to help them prepare for external review, and as part of that, have purchased a licence to provide GCP training to SHP partner staff.”
Under the new Framework, health services conducting clinical trials will be audited and must show evidence that their site meets the required standards, including GCP training, to ensure ongoing accreditation by the Commission.
All investigators and staff who are involved in the conduct, oversight or management of clinical trials are required to refresh their GCP training every 2 - 3 years or as per the individual training standard operating procedure.
Sydney Health Partners offers free online refresher courses throughout the year.
The launch of the online Introductory GCP Course compliments the in-house face-to-face GCP training and the on-line GCP Refresher course that is available. This allows SHP partners to provide training to all research staff when it is required and at no cost.
