Guide to Ethics and Governance Processes in NSW

Published on: August 10 2021

This guide is designed to provide new researchers and clinical trial staff an overview of the Ethics and Research Governance processes for clinical trials conducted in public health organisations in NSW.

The Guide to the Ethics Approval and Research Governance Authorisation Processes for Clinical Trials in NSW Public Health Organisations (link opens in a new window) is a resource for new researchers and clinical trial staff. It provides an overview of the Ethics and Research Governance procedures for conducting clinical trials in NSW’s public health organisations.

While the guide primarily addresses clinical trials, much of the information is also useful for other types of health research involving human participants. This guide focuses on the health organisations within Sydney Health Partners (Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney, Sydney, and Western Sydney Local Health Districts, and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network) but may also be relevant for other NSW health organisations.

The full guide (link opens in a new window) as well as the below overview diagram (link opens in a new window) can be downloaded by clicking on the images below and from the right-hand "Downloads and Links" box.
