RART Grant Scheme Receives Big Boost

Applications open next March, with separate application streams for projects in urban and rural areas across Australia. Individual grants will be a minimum of $250,000 up to $10 million, for projects which must be completed within five years.

The grant opportunity forms part of the Medical Research Future Fund and builds on the RART Initiative which began in 2018. The Australian Government has committed $216 million for the Initiative between 2019-20 and 2027-28.

To date Sydney Health Partners has disbursed three rounds of RART grants totaling $5.3 million for 36 research projects across the Partnership region. Fourteen projects have been completed and the rest are scheduled to report their results between June 2021 and mid ’22.

The next RART grant round requires researchers to apply directly to the MRFF rather than SHP.

The Initiative is investing in research projects that encourage academic researchers and health service providers to collaborate to improve health care delivery, services and system sustainability.
